Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated Bangabandhu Water Treatment Plant aimed at meeting up the growing demand of pure drinking water of the localities in Khulna on Sunday. Sheikh Hasina opened the Bangabandhu Water Treatment Plant in Khulna under Khulna WASA through a video conference from her official residence Ganabhaban in the capital.
However, Bangabandhu Water Treatment Plant was built at a cost of Taka 2554 crore with the capacity of producing 11 crore litres per day. The existing 25 percent coverage of pure drinking water has been increased to 75 percent bringing 15 lakh more people of Khulna under the coverage.
At that time, on the Khulna side Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Anwar Hossain Howlader, Police Commissioner Dr Khondoker Mahid Uddin, Additional DIG md Habibur Rahman, Managing Director of Khulna WASA Md Abdullah, Police Super SM Shafiullah, President of Khulna Press Club SM Nazrl Islam along with other distinguished guests were also present.
