Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has donated a signed Argentina national football team jersey to the Bangladesh National Museum, turning it into one of the museum’s most popular attractions.
The jersey bears the autographs of Lionel Messi along with World Cup-winning teammates Julián Álvarez and Enzo Fernández, making it a prized piece of modern football history.
The artefact is displayed in a specially secured exhibition space inside the museum, where it has been preserved in a framed installation for public viewing.
Officials said the jersey was formally handed over to the museum on June 29 by the Prime Minister, after which it was placed on public display.
Since its exhibition, the jersey has drawn a steady flow of visitors, with large crowds especially on weekends and holidays. Families, students and football fans are visiting the gallery to view the historic memorabilia and take photographs.
Museum officials noted that interest in the display has been exceptionally high among Argentine football supporters and young visitors, many of whom consider it a unique cultural highlight.
Staff at the museum said the exhibit has created a vibrant atmosphere in the gallery, with daily footfall increasing significantly since its installation.
