PM begins cleansing operation in party to drive away weeds, intruders

Obaidul Quader says at triennial conference of Jashore district Awami League

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said that the cleansing operation has begun in the party and it will continue. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has started the purification operation from her house.

“Operation is on to drive away weeds, parasites and intruders from the party. The operation will also be conducted outside Dhaka,” he said. 

Obaidul Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said these while speaking as the chief guest at the triennial council of Jashore district unit of Awami League at Central Eidgah Maidan in district town on Wednesday noon. 

At the council, he declared Shahidul Islam Milan and Shaheen Chakladar as the president and general secretary respectively in the new committee of the district Awami League.

Obaidul Quader said that Awami League is exemplary and sacrificing organisation. The exemplary leaders and activists of the Awami League need to be evaluated. Seasonal birds return to their habitat once the season is gone. 

He urged the leaders and activists of the party to leave the seasonal birds. The beneficiaries return to their place with benefits. There is no need to the party who are engaged in anti-liberation force. 

He also urged the party men to work together to make Bangabandhu's dream a reality. “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is an honest and skilled leader for the people. We cannot do misdeed as her worker. Bangabandhu's ideology must be highlighted to move the country forward.”

Obaidul Quader asked the party leaders and activists not to spoil the reputation of the party by clashing.

He expressed satisfaction over the verdict in Holey Artisan case verdict, saying that people’s trust in the country’s independent judiciary was further established over the verdict. “Militants cannot get escaped during the reign of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and this has been proved. The verdict is an alarm to the militants,” he said.

He said the development work of the Jashore-Benapole road at a cost of Tk 328 crore, Jashore-Monirampur-Keshabpur-Chuknagar road at a cost of tk 365 crore and Jashore-Noapara-Rajghat road at a cost of Tk 322 crore. A total costing of Tk 800 crore for development road construction in the district underway, he said. 

Chaired by district AL president Shahidul Islam Milon, Awami League Presidium Member Advocate Pijush Kanti Bhattacharya inaugurated of the district conference. Awami League joint general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Abdur Rahman, AL central organizing secretary and whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan MP, Sheikh Tonmoy MP, Awami League central executive committee members SM Kamal Hossain and Parveen Zaman Kalpona, State Minister for Rural Development and Cooperative Swapan Bhattacharya, Ismat Ara Sadek MP, Kazi Nabil Ahmed MP, Major General (Rtd)  Dr.Nasir Uddin MP, Sheikh Afil Uddin MP, Ranjit Kumar Roy among other spoke in the triennial conference. General secretary of the district Awami League and chairman of the Sadar Upazila Shahin Chaklader to conducted the council. 

In his speech, Mahbubul Alam Hanif said that BNP has become known all over the world including the country as a militancy and terrorist group. Mentioning that there is no alternative to Awami League to take the country forward, he said, after the Awami League came to power, there has been huge development in all sectors of the country.
