We express deep concern over burning three carriages of the intercity Jamuna Express train near Sarishabari railway station in Jamalpur early Sunday a few hours ahead of 48-hours hartal enforced by BNP, Jamaat and like-minded parties.

On Thursday we also witnessed terrors set fire to a commuter train standing at Tangail railway station. Two bogies of the commuter train were completely damaged in the fire.

The five compartments of the two trains were completely burnt. Besides, adjacent compartments were also partially burnt. And both the incidents took places in the early hours of Thursday and Sunday respectively.

Police arrested three persons in connection with Tangail commuter train fire. They are now being interrogated.

On the other hand, criminals set fire to a tin-shed room of a government primary school in Bormi union under Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district early Sunday. Meanwhile, many reports of arson violence were recorded in different places of the country as vehicles including buses; covered van, trucks CNG-run autorickshaws, and pickup vans were torched.

It seems that vested elements continued to ‘play with fire’ as part of their blue print to foil the next general election at any cost. On Sunday the Appellate Division has dismissed the Jamaat’s appeal against the High Court order that declared the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami illegal.

Being rejected Jamaat will draw up more sabotage plan. Since Sunday, there might be an attempt to create chaos centering Jamaat’s registration.  This is part of BNP-Jamaat’s plan of sabotage acts and mayhem across the country till January 7, 2024.  So, apart from roads and highways, security should be beefed up in all under construction mega projects and key point installations (KPIs) in order to keep them safe and secure. Stringent security measures will also have to be taken for smooth implementation of project and thwart any evil plans by the vested elements.

We believe no

obstacle can halt the

country’s 12th

Jatiya Sangsad election

Security has also to be beefed up in Bangladesh Secretariat, international airports, power stations and government hospitals. The law enforcers including intelligence agency must remain alert to thwart the vested elements any plot.

The vested element comprising anti-liberation forces and killers of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in association with BNP which allows Jamaat-Shibir men cannot bring anything good to the country. And they are now getting angered and frustrated as they are repeatedly failing to make the government and electoral process controversial before the nation and world as well.

Therefore, they became desperate to make the country’s next poll questionable and controversial in many ways. If the law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies launch massive security measures, the Pakistan collaborators of 1971 will never be able to fulfill their goals rather they will be uprooted from the country.  We believe no obstacle can halt the country’s 12th Jatiya Sangsad election. When much enthusiasm and excitement are running high among people centring the upcoming national election, BNP-Jamaat and some vested quarter have become desperate and engaged their ill efforts in destabilising the peaceful situation through conducting anarchy.

It is very unfortunate that some people of the country cannot accept people’s voting rights. These vested elements feel pain in their heart seeing the nation is set go for general election amid conspiracies hatched at home and abroad.

There should be no compromise with those who have been trying to conduct subversive activities. The issue of sabotage is becoming visible after the fire in train and government school.

In fact, we think that those incidents are being carried out to create fear and tension and to mire the prevailing joy and enthusiasm ahead of the national poll. We think it will not be wise to ignore the possibilities subversive activities by vested quarters during the BNP enforced hartals and blockades.

All must remain alert against BNP-Jamaat’s any kind of programme centering upcoming general polls in the country.
