Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs minister Anisul Huq on Sunday urged the judges to play a ‘significant role’ through their talent, skill and innovative power in tackling the challenges of longstanding case backlog.
“The skilled persons or institutions will be able to provide speedy and standard services, making a leap in this smart Bangladesh. That is why we are emphasizing on training of judges for increasing their knowledge and efficiency. Apart from these, balanced development of a country’s human resource is one of the ways for economic and social progress and the main weapon for human resource development is training,” he said.
The law minister made the observations while addressing as chief guest at the inaugural function of an orientation course for judges at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) in the capital.
Anisul Huq also said a developed and efficient training institute itself can create adept human resource, adding: “That is why we have increased the efficiency of JATI.”
“Once JATI could not provide training to more than 40 judges, while now it is possible to provide training to around 80 judges at the same time. It has been possible because of the work of Sheikh Hasina government. We are also conducting foundation training course for assistant judges and orientation course for joint district judges here,” he added.
Presided over by JATI Director General Justice Nazmul Ara Sultana, the function was also addressed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar and JATI director (training) Sheikh Ashfakur Rahman.
