Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have recovered the snatched phone of Planning Minister MA Mannan.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sazzadur Rahman of DMP confirmed it.
He claimed that the phone was recovered late on Sunday. Five persons were arrested in this connection.
The arrestees were identified as Jibon, Sagir, Sumon Mia, Zakir and Hamid Ahmed Shohag alias Arif.
According to the DMP Deputy Commissioner, police recovered the minister's phone while investigating a case filed with Dhanmondi police station over a hijacking incident in Dhaka on July 12.
We first nabbed Sagir and Sumon after identifying them from CCTV footage. Later, we arrested Jakir, Shohag, and Jibon, following the information provided by Sagir and Sumon, the DC described.
We recovered 10 phone sets including the minister's iPhone, a motorcycle, and a laptop from their possession, he added.
DC Sazzadur Rahman informed Bangladesh Post that Shohag is the mastermind of this whole operation.
He usually unlocks the phones by bypassing the apple IDs of the original users.
He was arrested from his Adabar home with the seized laptops and other electronic devices.
On May 30, Planning Minister M A Mannan’s phone was snatched at a traffic stop in Dhaka’s Bijoy Sarani area.
