Phensidyl, banned medicine seized

Benapole customs authorities recovered a large quantity of banned Indian medicines and 200 bottles of Phensidyl from a truck loaded with goods imported from India, from the TTI terminal at Benapole land port in Jashore on Wednesday night.

The driver of the truck fled after detecting the presence of customs officer, but the truck along with Phensidyl and drugs was seized. Customs sources said the value of the Medicine and Phensidyl, including the seized truck is Tk 17 lakh.  Benapole Customs Commissioner Azizur Rahman said they had received a tip-off that a truck carrying imported Indian goods including banned medicine and Phensidyl was parked at the TTI terminal of Benapole land port.

Following the information, a team including Deputy Commissioner of Customs Anupam Chakma raided the terminal and seized the truck along with the bottles of Phensidyl and various Indian medicines. A case has been registered with Benapoel Port Police station in this connection.
