Mass vaccination against Covid-19 has started again from Tuesday (September 7), at the union level across country after overcoming the complications on the issue.

Administration of the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine started at all the vaccination centres of seven unions including Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex in Pabna’s Ishwardi upazila.

People are coming to the centres for vaccination and getting vaccinated after waiting in lines. However, 65,315 people of Ishwardi upazila are waiting to get vaccinated against the virus infection after registering themselves officially.

Visiting on spot, a long queue of men and women waiting to be vaccinated was seen on the verandah of Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex at around 10:30 am on Wednesday. Some random gatherings were also seen here and there.

However, the officials of the health complex at the time informed, the vaccination activities were going on smoothly. The government started mass Covid-19 vaccination at the union level on last August 7 to keep urban as well rural residents free from coronavirus infection. At that time, 3 vaccination centers were set up in each union of Ishwardi upazila. The second phase of mass vaccine has started in all of those vaccination centres again after resolving the issue of the vaccine supply. Ishwardi Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr FA Asma Khan confirmed the information.

Dr Asma Khan said vaccination activities and sample testing are continuing at the Upazila Health Complex as per the government's directives to prevent corona infection. Although mass vaccination activities were started at the union level, it was stopped for some time due to vaccine shortage. However, now a total of 21 vaccination centres in all the unions of the upazila are running second dose Covid-19 vaccine activities. Immunization activities are going on smoothly in these centers, the official added.

Upazila Health Complex Statistics Officer Nazneen Afroz said 92,991 people have registered for vaccination at Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex till Wednesday.
