Movement of traffic through Paragram regional road in Nawabganj upazila in Dhaka has become hazardous due to a dilapidated road condition.
It is learnt, thousands of vehicles including buses, trucks and auto-rickshaws ply through the road to visit various districts including the capital city Dhaka. But, most part of the road is damaged and pot-holed. As a result, there were frequent accidents on the road.
It is alleged, a construction company named Doly Constructions Limited was given the work order to repair the road but on various pleas, the proprietor of the construction company was delaying to repair the road.
From Jantrail to Chnadrakhona, large potholes have been created on the road resulting a regular traffic and accidents on the spot.
According to sources of the Department of Local Government and Engineering Department, the companies Messers Doly Constructions Limited and Messers Geneva International Limited have been given the work order to repair the 10-kilometre Nawabganj to Singjore road at a cost of Taka 76.259 million(Seven crore 62 lakh and 59 thousand).
Dewan Tuhinur Rahman, Chairman of Sholla Union Parishad informed, while the country was progressing fast under the abled leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the sufferings of people of Sholla, Jantrail and Koilail villages have been increased due to negligence of some contractors. He demanded to finish the repair works of the road soon.
Tajul, leader of Auto-rickshaw and Easy Bike drivers Association informed, innumerous potholes have been created on the road due to non-repair of the road for a long time. As a result, accidents and jam on the road is a regular phenomenon.
Nasir Uddin, Propritor of Messers Dolly Construction could not be contacted as he did not receive the phone even after repeated calls.
Anowar Hossain, Engineer of upazila LGED informed, they were insisting the responsible contractor to finish the work as soon as possible and hoped the works will start soon.
