The building construction committee of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) failed to meet during the last three months keeping a large number of applications for approval of building construction pending.
Such unnecessary delay in approval of building plans causes public sufferings.
It is known that due to an internal conflict between senior-junior officers, the building construction committee of the CDA has not met for the last three months. As a result a large number of files are waiting for building approval.
The last meeting was held when the Executive Engineer of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) AGM Selim joined there. He was appointed as Authorization Officer-1 last November.
The chairman of this committee was the Deputy Chief of Town Planner, but Abu Isa Ansari holds the post of Deputy Chief Town Planner. He is the junior of AGM Selim. So AGM Salim was not convening the meeting as member secretary.
Meanwhile, on January 28, joint secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Mohammad Mizanur Rahman signed the notification to reorganize the two building construction committees of CDA.
The chief town planner will serve as the chairman of the committee. Currently, Chief Engineer Kazi Hasan Bin Shams is serving as acting in this post.
The members of Building Construction Committee-1 will be Town Planner-1, Senior Architect, and Executive Engineer nominated by the CDA Chairman and Authorized Officer-1 as member secretary. On the other hand, the members of Building Construction Committee-2 are - City Planner-2, an Assistant Architect, an Executive Engineer nominated by the CDA Chairman and an Authorized Officer-2 who will serve as Member Secretary.
