On the last day of mass vaccination programme long queue of people at the vaccination centers to get the first dose of corona jabs in Rangpur city since Saturday morning has been seen.

Authorities have had a hard time vaccinating the crowds. Forty mobile teams have also worked to handle the situation. In addition to the law enforcement agencies, various voluntary organizations also took to the field to maintain order.

These people have been deprived of vaccines for so long due to various doubts including side effects of this vaccine.

Earlier, the Rangpur City Corporation had launched a campaign in the market to control the outbreak of coronavirus and ensure 100 percent vaccination. The vaccination campaign was launched on February 17 for the convenience of traders, shop owners, employees and buyers in the city's hat-bazaars.

Besides, the health department of the city corporation has been conducting door-to-door vaccination of Covid-19 since January this year. This mobile mass vaccination activity is well received locally. People are getting vaccinated with interest as they do not have to wait for online vaccine registration or text message.

Abdul Qayyum, head and sanitary officer of Rangpur City Corporation's health department, said that, “The vaccination campaign was launched in the city's markets under the direction of the city mayor to ensure 100 percent vaccination. The campaign will be conducted in Lalbaghhat, Burirhat, Nisbetganjhat, Hazirhat, Chowrarhat, Dhap City Bazar, Mahiganj Bazar, Central Bus Terminal Bazar, Station Bazar, Satmatha Bazar, Sahebganj Bazar and other small and big hats in the city. In this way, traders, shop owners, employees and buyers do not have to go to the immunization center and get vaccinated.”

City Mayor Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa on Saturday said that at least one lakh people had been vaccinated in 133 booths in 33 wards of the city. He said that vigilance has been maintained to ensure that no one in the city is left out of the vaccine.
