PCR lab launched in Bogura, 94 samples to be tested daily

Polymer Chain Reaction (PCR) Laboratory for testing samples of Coronavirus was inaugurated at the Microbiology Department of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogura on Monday. 

The laboratory will be operated by two associate professors, three assistant professors and 12 lecturers of the college. Earlier, they were trained by the Technicians from Dhaka. 

Prof Dr Rezaul Alam Jewel, Principal of SZRMC informed, tests of 94 samples will be conducted in this laboratory daily and the reports of the tests will be sent to the IEDCR in Dhaka from where the results of the tests will be announced. He further informed, so far the college has received 1008 kits for testing samples, 50 PPEs and masks from the central drug stores.  The tests of Coronavirus for the suspected patients of Bogura and surrounding districts will be conducted at the laboratory. 

 During the inauguration of the PCR Laboratory, Deputy Commissioner of Bogura Foyez Ahmed, Director of SZRMC Brigadier General ASM Khaleque Bhuiyan, Principal of SZRMC Dr. Rezaul Alam Jewel, District Superintendent of Police Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan, Civil Surgeon of Rajshahi Dr. Gausal Azim Chowdhury, President of Swadhinota Chikitsak Parishad Dr. Samir Hossain Mishu and Deputy Executive Director of TMSS Medical College Dr. Matiur Rahman were present.

It is learnt, earlier the samples of suspected Corona infected person were sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for testing.
