Amid prevailing coronavirus cases in the country, a public awareness program has been held in Thakurgaon district, demanding setting up of PCR lab and ICU to detect and treat the virus. The program was held at the intersection of the city at noon on Thursday.

Adv. Imran Hossain Chowdhury, President of Thakurgaon District Branch of Bangladesh Workers Party, Rezwanul Haque Riju, General Secretary of District Udichi and others were present and spoke during the program.

Speakers at the time said that samples of corona from 4 districts including Thakurgaon and Panchagarh were tested at Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. However, it has the capacity to test 188 samples per day.

In this situation, the samples sent daily from other districts including Thakurgaon were not tested in time, so many COVID patients do not know whether they are infected or not. So, the speakers demanded to set up PCR lab in this district very soon. Later a memorandum was given to the deputy commissioner.
