A passenger named Joynal was arrested at Shah Amanat Airport in Chattogram city with gold of Tk 6.5 crore. Customs detectives arrested him on Friday morning.
Shah Amanat Airport Manager Wing Commander Sarwar E Zaman said the passenger Joynal arrived on the Saudi Airlines flight from Sharjah.
He said 130 pieces of gold bar was recovered from his luggage at the airport. He tactfully hid these bars within six charger lights.
The gold bar weighed 15 kg 163 grams.
Referring to the seized gold worth about Tk 6.5 crore, he said the detained passenger Joynal was a resident of Chittagong. A case was filed in this connection.
