Pass rate drops in Sylhet, GPA-5 rate increases

The pass rate in Sylhet education board this time is 78.82 percent. Last year the pass rate was 96.78 percent. As a result, the pass rate has decreased by 17.96 percent.

GPA-5 has increased even though the pass rate has decreased. A record 7 thousand 565 students got GPA-5 in the board this time. Last year 4 thousand 834 candidates got GPA-5 in Sylhet. On Monday (November 28) at 1.30 pm Sylhet Education Board Examination Controller Professor Arun Chandra Pal officially announced the results.

Meanwhile, Professor Arun Chandra Pal said that this year 1 lakh 16 thousand 490 students participated in the SSC examination under Sylhet Education Board. Out of them, 90948 have passed. Students of 930 educational institutions under the Sylhet Education Board participated in the SSC examination in 150 centers. Out of these 27 institutions have passed 100% of students. The number of institutes where no one has passed is zero. Compared to the previous year, the number of GPA-5 has increased by 2 thousand 731 people.

38 thousand 635 boys and 52 thousand 313 girls have passed the exam in Sylhet board. The pass rate of boys and girls is 78.71 percent and 78.9 percent respectively.

Under the Sylhet Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, the number of students obtaining GPA-5 has increased despite the decrease in the pass rate of the SSC examination. A record 7 thousand 565 students got GPA-5 in Sylhet this year. Last year 4 thousand 834 candidates got GPA-5 in Sylhet. This year 3 thousand 254 boys and 4 thousand 311 girls got GPA-5.

Sylhet's board pass rate in the science department is 93.57 percent. Out of 23 thousand 318 candidates in this category, 23 thousand 230 passed. Out of them, 6 thousand 894 got GPA-5. The pass rate in the humanities department is 73.8 percent and 389 people got GPA-5. Out of 84 thousand 273 candidates in this category, 83 thousand 315 passed. The pass rate in the business education department is 87.36 percent. 7 thousand 728 out of 8 thousand 899 candidates have passed in this category. 282 students got GPA-5.

Meanwhile, among the four districts under the Sylhet Education Board, the students of Sylhet district have done the best. The pass rate in this district is 81.95 percent. Apart from this, 79.95 percent in Sunamganj, 77.86 percent in Habiganj, and 73.83 percent in Moulvibazar.
