Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken an initiative to plant at least one crore saplings across the country during the ‘Mujib Year’ with a slogan “Plant trees, save the country.”

With a view to accelerating the tree plantation programme, Member of Parliament Parveen Haque Sikder, also a Director of National Bank Limited and the Chairperson of its Executive Committee, planted saplings in the National Parliament area on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, she said, “We believe we will be able to face climate change-induced natural disasters such as global warming, cyclone, floods and river erosion if we plant more and more trees.”

“We welcome this great initiative of our honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” she added.

The government has undertaken an initiative to plant one crore saplings across the country within this year to make the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman memorable.
