The Citizens for Good Governance (Sujon), Panchagarh district committee, celebrated its 23rd founding anniversary on Wednesday with a call to build aware and organized citizens as the bedrock of democracy.
The event was held at the Cinema Hall route in the city at 6 pm.
Presided over by the newly elected district president, AKM Fazle Nur (Bachchu), the programme began with a welcome speech by General Secretary Tabirul Islam Manik.
An open discussion, moderated by Organizing Secretary Rafiqul Islam Bhutto, featured speeches from journalists Dezar Hossain Badsha, Sigd Khandaker Niha, Abdul Hannan, Mosharraf Hossain, Mojirul Islam, Ahnaf CTI Director MA Baset, Bangladesh Press Club General Secretary Shafiullah Ripon, and lecturer Jahangir Alam.
During the discussion, the committee finalized a year-long action plan. Key initiatives include holding roundtable meetings with candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections, organizing seminars on good governance, and facilitating citizen dialogues.
The plan also focuses on ensuring transparency in local government activities, preventing corruption in educational institutions, and increasing public awareness to keep the youth free from drugs.
