Not only shells, juice, jaggery, ripe dates, cakes-these are very tasty food. Seasonal fruit palm has also grown in popularity.
In front of Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex, at intersections, on the sides of various roads and footpaths in the city, vendors are selling delicious dates. In front of Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex, Ramiz Uddin, a seller of date shells, collect dates in this season and selling them in the market. But other times he does various jobs as a profession. 300 to 400 palm are sold daily. In this way, in the season of rhythm, prosperity returns to his family.
The sellers also said that each palm contains 2-3 shells. One is sold for 10 to 15 Tk. The price of palm kernels in summer is slightly different. These palm shells are brought and sold from different places of Jibannagar upazila.
On Monday, various places in the upazila city were visited, small and large markets full of raw dates. These palm fruits are now adorning the markets, along the paved roads, along the crowded roads.
Somewhere, van pullers are also seen selling palm shells in neighborhoods and neighborhoods. Palm shells are collected from different regions and brought to the market. And the shopkeepers are setting up the stalls. Due to the high demand of palm kernels as a seasonal fruit, buyers are buying with great interest.
Due to its very good taste, palm kernel is a popular fruit among all classes of people. The sellers are not able to cut the shells in time according to the demand, so they do this work with their 1-2 assistants.
Sale of these palm shells lasts about one and a half to two months. According to the demand of the buyers, they sit at these places every day from 10 am to noon and sell about 400 to 500 shells each. On an average, he earns up to 300-350 taka.
Mubarak Sohail Ahmed of Utholi village, a buyer of palm shells, said that palm shells are very good at this time of the year. Palm oil is very useful especially on hot days. But this time the price of palm oil is very high.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Sharmin Akhter said that there has been a good yield of palm this year. Besides, this palm is being saved from new trees. He also said that now many people plant palm trees on the banks of various roads and canals to prevent lightning. Social and various organizations including agriculture office have been planting these palm trees as separate groups.
