Singer Palash Sen talked about his school batch mate, actor Shah Rukh Khan and revealed how he started singing for him 'way before Sonu Nigam'. In a new interview, Palash also spoke about not keeping in touch with the actor later in life. He also described how their path towards success has been different, according to a report on www.hindustantimes.com.

Both Palash and Shah Rukh Khan, born in the same year, did their schooling at St Columba's School in Delhi. Shah Rukh and Palash actively participated in extracurricular activities such as theatre, singing, and sports during their school days. A few years ago, in a documentary called The Inner World Of Shah Rukh Khan, the actor revisited his school, gave his fans a tour of the premises, and met a few old acquaintances.

Speaking with Mashable India, Palash said, "The famous story is that Shah Rukh and I, we were actors in school. We were in the same time and same batch. Basically, Shah Rukh couldn't sing and I could sing. We did a musical in which I did all the playback singing for Shah Rukh. Way before Sonu Nigam and all these guys sang I was singing for him."

When asked if Palash got in touch with Shah Rukh later, the singer smiled and shook his head. He also said, "We were buddies in school. We both took, he took the escalator and I took the stairs. So it was like that. In my whole life, there has been a career of 25 years, I have never asked for work from anyone. Never. My family and I believe that kaam do toh merit pe do (give work on basis of merit)."

In 2018, in an interview with Filmfare, Shah Rukh revealed his nickname in school. "Mail gadda, because I used to run very fast, like an express train. Also because my hair used to stand out in front. I've troubled many of my teachers. I once convinced my chemistry teacher to give me good marks by telling her I was like her son," he had said.

Palash founded the band Euphoria in 1998 in Delhi. The group is known for hit tracks such as Dhoom Pichak Dhoom, Maeri, Ab Naa Jaa, Aana Meri Gully, Sone De Maa, Soneya, and Mehfuz among others. Palash made his Bollywood acting debut with Filhaal in 2001. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film also starred Tabu and Sushmita Sen.

Shah Rukh will be seen next in Siddharth Anand's Pathaan along with Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia, and Ashutosh Rana. It is set to release on January 25 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. He also has Atlee's Jawan in the pipeline scheduled to release on June 2. Fans will also see Shah Rukh in Rajkumar Hirani's next film Dunki opposite Taapsee Pannu. It is scheduled to release on December 22.
