State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak called for the establishment of offshore campus of Russian University of Technology in Bangladesh for the purpose of skill development and development of IT sector. Palak made the call during a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander V. Mantytskiy (Alexander Vikentyevich Mantytskiy) on Sunday during a meeting in his office at the ICT Tower in Agargaon.
In the meeting, they discussed various issues related to the mutual interests of the two countries. Besides, cooperation in cyber security capacity building, introduction of digital currency inter-operable digital transaction (IDTP) system between Russia and Bangladesh, trade and investment by Russian technology companies in robotics, blockchain, machine learning, AI, AR, VR, etc., high- Allotment of land in Tech Park, sustainable startup exchange program for entrepreneurship development in joint ventures of both countries, organization of Bangladesh-Russia Investment Summit, participation of Russian IT companies in Digital World Summit in December, establishment of Agency for Knowledge on Aeronautical and Space Horizon (Akash) and startup sector of Bangladesh in various sectors. The Minister of State made a proposal to the Ambassador for investment. The Russian ambassador assured full cooperation in these matters and expressed optimism that the relations with Bangladesh in various fields including ICT will be strengthened in the near future.
The ambassador praised the development of various sectors of Bangladesh in the past 13 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The ambassador said that in a short period of time, various sectors including the ICT sector of Bangladesh have seen great development. In the coming days, Bangladesh will advance in various sectors including information technology. The ambassador said that the cordial and strong relations between the two friendly countries will continue in the future.
Among others, Senior Secretary of ICT Department NM Ziaul Alam, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Director General of Digital Security Agency Md Khairul Amin and Third Secretary of Russia in Bangladesh Anton Varisen were present.
