Pabna’s Majpara Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Gafur Mia has been suspended for committing irregularities in distributing cash assistance provided by the Prime Minister during the corona period.
Abdul Gafur Mia is the general secretary of Pabna’s Atgharia Upazila Awami League unit.
Atgharia Upazila Parishad Chairman Tanvir Islam confirming the news on Monday noon, said the order was issued in a circular signed by Deputy Secretary of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry, Mohammad Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury.
He further said that the circular signed on October 18 stated that the allegations of irregularities while preparing the list of beneficiaries for the cash assistance distribution programme provided by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the corona period and harassing a headmasters who identified the irregularities were proved.
Therefore, according to Local Goverent Act-2009, Abdul Gafur Mia was suspended from the post of Majpara Union Parishad Chairman.
