Pabna imposes strict lockdown, police intensify checking

District administration of Pabna is currently working to implement a limited lockdown in Pabna to curb the rise in Covid-19 infections and deaths across the country. Police have set up check posts at various important places in the district town of Pabna since Monday morning.

Although public transport was closed due to the lockdown, small-engine powered Easybike, Nochimon, Karimon and CNG-powered transport continued to operate. However, for the first day on the highways, the police are not allowing everyone to enter the transport city. 

However, rickshaws and vans are entering the city through various sub-roads. Pabna District Police Corona has taken to the field with awareness, working relentlessly. The district police is urging everyone to abide by the hygiene rules. They are encouraging wearing masks and maintain hygiene. 

Meanwhile, most of the important shopping malls in the city are closed, but traders are standing in front of the shops with goods. The shops are closing whenever the administration car comes. After the departure of the administration, the traders were seen to open and sell again.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 84 more people in Pabna have tested positive of Covid-19. At present, the number of corona positive patients in the district is 4,225. In the last seven days, 590 people have tested positive for corona. According to the district health department, 23 people have died of corona in the district so far. However, many people are dying in different parts of the district every day as non-government with corona symptoms. However, most of them are not able to test corona due to lack of PCR lab in the district.

Meanwhile, on the first day of the limited-scale lockdown, the city's shopping malls, including New Market, were seen selling batches by opening a shutter. 

The sidewalk shops adjacent to New Market in the city have been shown to be open for sale. The district administration has issued government instructions by miking in every upazila of the district after issuing notification of limited range lockdown of the government. 

It has also been announced that strict legal action will be taken if these instructions are not complied with. 

Restrictions will be in place for the next three days from 8am on Monday, June 26 to 6am on Thursday (July 1). At this time public transport without freight vehicles and rickshaws will be closed. Public and private offices will be open to a limited extent. 

Shopping malls, markets, entertainment centers, hotels and restaurants will remain closed, but the administration said they will not be able to sit and eat.
