Presidium Member of AL Ramesh Chandra Sen has said, countrywide cleansing drive has been launched and those who turned millionaire overnight by committing to corruption and by amassing a huge wealth by forcibly  occupying land will not be spared. They will be nabbed just after the council. The cleansing drive will start from the party insiders and then the corrupts from other parties will be brought to the book.

Ramesh Chandra Sen was speaking as the chief guest at the Triennial Council of No.1 Ruhia Union Awami League held at the playground of Ruhia duckbunglow under Thakurgaon sadar upazila on Saturday afternoon.

He further mentioned, BNP is a party of the looters. Khaleda Zia is serving jail for last 3/4 year on the allegation of misappropriating money of the orphans. His son Tarek Rahman is afraid to visit Bangladesh from London, the reason is they have misappropriated the state fund.

He further said, the Secretary General of BNP and the district President Taimur Rahman have been listed illegally as freedom fighters in 2001 through they did not take part in the liberation war. He asked them to reveal in which sector they were engaged in the war of liberation. He added, a couple of days ago, BNP Secretary General Mirja Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made some objectionable remarks against AL leaders. Terming them liars, he called upon the leaders and activists of AL to resist them.  He said, Ruhia police station will soon be declared as an upazila.

Presided over by Tariqul Islam, Convener of Ruhia Union AL, the council was addressed, among others, by district AL President and the General Secretary Sadeque Qureshi and Dipok Kumar Roy respectively, Mahbubur Rahman Khokon, Zulifqur Ali Bhutto, Sadar Upazila President and the General Secretary Arunasho Dutto Tito and Mosharul Islam sarker respectively and President and the General Secretary of Ruhia thana AL partha sarathi Sen and Abu Sayed Babu respectively.

During the second session of the council Monirul Haque Babu was selected as the Union President of AL unanimously. However, no decision was taken regarding the selection of the General Secretary till the writing of the report at Saturday afternoon.
