Roads and Highways Department (RHD) in a drive evicted more than 800 illegal shops and structures in Kishoreganj on Monday.
According to RHD of Kishoreganj, an influential circle occupied the footpath area beside the RHD roads by establishing shops and hotel-restaurant and doing business there illegally.
To demolish these illegal structures, RHD conducted a drive.
On 9th September Kishoreganj-Karimganj-Chamraghat-Mithamoin road, on 16th September Kishoreganj-Nikli road, nearly one hundred illegal structures have been demolished. And during the month of August, nearly 300 illegal structures have been demolished.
On 23rd October Etakhola-Mothkhola-Kotiadi road, nearly 400 illegal structures have been demolished.
Executive Engineer of Roads and Highways department (RHD) of Kishoreganj, Md Rashedul Alom told to Bangladesh Post the eviction drive was led by Assistant Commissioner (land) Pakundia, Kotiadi, Karimganj, Executive Magistrate of Nikli and Sub-assistant engineer Shafiqul Islam.
