Over 3.24 lakh children to be fed Vitamin-A plus capsule in Jashore

Jashore Civil Surgeon office has completed all preparations to immunize over 3.24-lakh children aged between six months to 59 months with Vitamin A plus capsule under the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign  from June 15 to 19.

Jashore Civil Surgeon office disclosed the information on Saturday at a press conference held at Jashore 250-bed Hospital conference room to make the National Vitamin A plus Campaign Day-2022 (first round) a success.

The campaign will be conducted under the auspices of the Public Health and Nutrition Institute and National Nutrition Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with the assistances of the UNICEF.

Chaired by Civil Surgeon Dr Biplob Kanti Biswas, the meeting was addressed, among others, by, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Nazmus Sadik,Press Club President Zahid Hasan Tukun,Dr Anupom Biswas and District Sanitary Inspector of CS office Shishir Kanti Paul.  

CS Dr Biplob Kanti Biswas said,a large number of volunteers and monitoring teams will provide Vitamin A plus Capsules at 2,280 outreach centres in all eight upazilas including two municipalities (Jashore and Benapole) area of the district on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 3 pm. 

“Around 37,394 babies (6-11 months) and 2,87,552 babies (12-59 months) will be administered with one dose of Vitamin A Plus capsule respectively,” he said.“Special measures will be taken to feed vitamin A capsules to under-five babies at bus stands, rail stations and other places to make the campaign a complete success in the district,” he added.
