A total of 1,90,313 children of under-five age group will be fed Vitamin A Plus capsules in five upazilas of the district on June 18 as part of the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign 2023.
Medical officer of the district civil surgeon office Dr. SM Sakibur Rahman disclosed this information to the journalists on Wednesday afternoon.
The program will be conducted in 67 unions and four municipalities in five upazilas of Gopalganj district.
The campaign will be conducted under the auspices of the Public Health and Nutrition Institute and National Nutrition Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Planning with UNICEF assistance.
Civil surgeon of the district Dr. Niaz Mohammad said, "We have completed all preparations to make the national vitamin "A" plus campaign a success."
"Immunization of the under-five babies with Vitamin A Plus capsules is crucial for strengthening their immune system and disease resistance capacity for healthier growth," he said.
He also said 3,432 health workers and volunteers, 211 health assistants, 182 community health care providers and 246 family welfare assistants, under supervision of 216 first class supervisors will provide Vitamin A Plus capsules at 1,716 centres in five upazilas on Sunday next from 8 am to 4 pm.
