Three and a half thousand students of Majid Jarina School and College in Shariatpur carried out a tree planting programme from home through the online zoom app with the motto ‘Let's plant trees in Mujib Barsho and build Bangabandhu's Shonar Bangla’.

On Tuesday (August 24) noon, the tree planting programme was held on the online platform at Narkalikata Majid Jarina School and College in Naria upazila of Shariatpur on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of our independence and the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

From the morning onwards, the students took part in the day-long programme from their respective positions with the help of their parents. They planted saplings on the roofs of their houses, on balcony, on courtyards, and even on the fallow lands on both sides of the road during the programme.

Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner Md Parvez Hasan while inaugurating the tree planting programme said, the tree-planting initiative taken by Majid Jarina School and College is really commendable. “We should all come forward to plant more trees to maintain the balance of the environment,” he added. He urged everyone to plant medicinal and fruit trees especially.

At the time he also remarked that the online tree planting programme is a part of Digital Bangladesh.

At the end of the inaugural ceremony, he took part in tree planting activities on the college campus.

Naria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rashed Uzzaman, Majid Jarina School and College’s Board of Trustees and Bhojeshwar Union Chairman Haji Nurul Islam were present on the occasion along with teachers and scout students of the college.
