Police have arrested one alleged terrorist and weapons dealer Imran Hossain Parvez (24) of Sitakunda upazila.
He was arrested from Chota Darogarhat area of Sitakunda upazila on Friday afternoon. A pistol, a magazine and a one-shooter gun were recovered from him.
The arrested Parvez is the son of Iqbal Hossain of South Mahadevpur of Sitakund Municipality.
According to the police, Chota Darogarhat was waiting on the street in front of Sahasradhara Water Management Cooperative Society to sell weapons. On receiving the information, a team of police stationed in the area in disguise.
Sensing the presence of the police, he tried to escape and was arrested. After searching his body, the police recovered a pistol, a magazine and a one-shooter gun.
Sitakunda Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tofail Ahmed said that the arrested Parvez was the second-in-command of terrorist Muhammad Ali. There are a total of 7 cases against him on various charges including extortion, sabotage. A case has been registered against the accused under the Arms Act
