Arif and his brother-in-law Rakib, the son of the missing youth's sister, said that although seven of them were on the trip, six of them did not want to take a bath in the sea. He took a bath around 12:30. At first they thought Firoz had gone to the hotel room. Because he knew how to swim. But after not finding him, the tourist informed the police around 4.30 pm.

Kuakata tourist police ASP Abdul Khaleq said that the relatives of the missing youth came to them around 4:30 pm and told them that they could not find Firoz. Firoz has not been seen by his companions since taking a bath in the sea. Firoz's companions speculate that he may have been swept away by the tide.

ASP Abdul Khaleq added that they immediately started searching for the missing youth with two water bikes and a speed boat. The fire service has also been notified.

Kalapara Fire Service Station Officer Iliash Hossain said four members of the fire service had arrived at the scene. Meanwhile, the diving team has left Patuakhali for Kuakata.
