One person was killed and 15 others were injured when a passenger bus turned turtle on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in the Fakirhat Salimpur area of Fauzdarhat in Sitakunda of Chittagong on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kashem, 64, son of Abu Jafor, resident of Boropol residential area in Chattogram.
The incident took place around 9am on Saturday. The vehicular movement was halted in one side of Dhaka-Chattogram highway. Later, the movement of the vehicles became normal at around 12:00 noon.
The injured were taking treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
Baro Aulia Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khokon Chandra Ghosh conformed the matter.
He said the bus overturned as it lost its control in the area. Later, firefighters came to the spot and rescued the bus at around 11:30am. So, the vehicular movement became normal then.
Witnesses said that a passenger bus turned turtle in the area at 9:00am. There was a halt of the vehicles. So the passengers had to suffer a lot.
The firefighters of Sitakundu Fire Station said on information, we rushed to the spot and rescued three critically injured people.
In-charge of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Sub-Inspector (SI) Nurul Alam Asheq said three injured was admitted to the hospital. They are now out of danger.
