One dies in M’singh clash over land dispute

A man died in a clash between two groups over a land dispute in Mymensingh's Trishal upazila on Saturday night.

The incident took place around 9:30 pm on Eidgah field at Khagati Bazar under Mathbari union of the upazila.

The dead Abdul Qadir Jilani, 50, was a resident of Jamtala village under Mokshpur union of the upazila.

According to police and locals, the victim Jilani had a disute over land with local Mamun-Sohag for a long time. Following this, around 9:30 pm on Saturday, the people of Jilani clashed with the men of Mamun and Sohag with weapons. Abdul Qadir Jilani was injured at that time. He was rescued and taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 11 pm. Trishal Police Station sub-inspector Bikash Sarkar said legal action is under process in the incident. An operation is underway to arrest the accused.
