The members of RAB-5 Joypurhat camp conducted an operation on the basis of secret information and arrested one alleged notorious terrorist along with indigenous firearms, ammunition and heroin from Puranapail area of Sadar upazila of the district.
The arrested Zakaria Hossain Rocky (35) is the son of Mozibur Rahman of Puranapail area of Joypurhat Sadar Upazila. There are 8 cases against him in different police stations.
He is also known as Balumahal Syndicate of the area.
Commander of RAB-5 Joypurhat camp Major Mostafa Zaman said that on Friday late night, a RAB raiding team led by Squad Commander Assistant Superintendent of Police Masud Rana raided Puranapail area of Joypurhat police station on the basis of intelligence information and arrested notorious terrorist Zakaria Hossain Rocky (35), a notorious arms and drug dealer. RAB arrested him with 4 firearms, 6 daggers along with heroin from his possession. He is also known as the notorious arms and drug dealer of Puranapail area and the godfather of drugs.
For a long time, Rocky kept the common people of the area hostage by threatening them with weapons. No one could open their mouth against him and he controlled various Balumahall syndicates in the area by threatening of illegal weapons. RAB also said that he used to lead various terrorist activities including extortion and tendering. A case has been lodged against him under the Arms and Narcotics Control Act with Joypurhat Sadar Police Station.
