Nursing students demanded cancellation of registration of Technical Education Board's (TEB) Patient Care Technology students as nurses.

Students of Nursing and Midwifery staged demonstration in some part of the country on Saturday demanding cancellation of the health ministry's decision.

Like some other parts, nursing students formed a human chain and staged demonstration in Bogura to press home their three-point demand, including opposition to granting nursing licenses to students who have passed from the Technical Education Board.

The programme was held in Shatmatha area in the district town. Hundreds of students from nine nursing colleges and institutes of Bogura participated in the human programme.

Rakib Hossain and Ishtiaq Ahmed of Karatoya Nursing Institute, Mehedi Hasan and Mohammad Nadim of Psych Nursing Institute, Ayesha and Tanmoy of Ideal Nursing Institute, Rashedul of TMSS Nursing Institute and Zakia of North Bengal Nursing Institute spoke at the human chain, among others.

The demands of the nursing students are-- the suspension order has to be withdrawn immediately and the test has to be taken within the next 72 hours, the decision of appointing patient care technologists as nurses has to be cancelled, and the decision of considering Family Welfare Visitors (FWV) as the equivalent of a midwife must be cancelled.
