The number of pediatric patients has started increasing again in Meherpur General Hospital. The victims are mostly suffering from cold, cough, pneumonia and bronchitis. With the change of weather, the number of pediatric patients is increasing again.

However, hospital authorities said there is an adequate supply of medicines. Parents just need to be extra careful at this time.

According to Meherpur General Hospital, 52 children have been admitted to the hospital against 20 beds till Monday afternoon. However, efforts are being made to treat every admitted child in bed. If there are 20 beds, the number of beds has also been increased due to the pressure of pediatric patients. On this day, eight patients have been discharged and 14 new pediatric patients have been admitted. Many are admitted over a week.

Alif Hossain of Bamanpara in Meherpur town has been hospitalized for two days with his two-month-old son. The child has a cold, coughing. The child was admitted to the hospital as he was not well after being treated outside for several days.

He said, “I am getting expensive medicines starting from injections from the hospital. Some medicines have to be bought from outside. I am happy with the hospital treatment.”

Munni Begum of Maitrapur village in Gangni upazila took her 14-day-old grandson to hospital for a week. The child had been ill since the surgery. He was again suffering from cold and cough. After being admitted for several days, he could not recover now. However, he is not incurring additional expenses as he has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Bilkis Begum of Hatboalia village in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district has been admitted to hospital with her six months old granddaughter. She said, “The child was first taken to the village doctor when he contracted a cold or cough. After taking treatment for several days, I was taken to the hospital as I was not feeling well. The hospital doctor admitted my granddaughter. I have been hospitalized with the baby for 7 days. She is much healthier now.”

Meherpur General Hospital RMO Dr. Mokleshur Rahman said, “The number of pediatric patients is increasing with the change of weather. Most children suffer from colds. Causes of rot virus are also affecting children at this time. At this time mothers should always be clean and tidy, wash their hands well before and after meals. The hospital has adequate supply of medicines for the treatment of children. In fact, whenever a child is infected with any disease, they first seeks treatment from a village doctor. They can't give any information about the medicines they are giving to the child. As a result, it is very difficult for us to treat these patients. Therefore, if the children are affected by any disease, he urged them to come to the hospital before it becomes complicated.”

Habibur Rahman, a pediatrician at Gangni Upazila Health Complex, said extra care should be taken towards children at this time. Care should be taken so that the children do not sweat at any time. If you sweat, you can't stop sweating by running electric fan immediately.

This will make the children more sick. Sweat should be wiped off with a soft cloth and then an electric fan should be run. In addition, babies up to 6 months of age should be breastfed. If you are over 6 months old, you need to eat extra food along with breast milk. And children need to be kept clean at all times. And children need to get vaccinated regularly.
