Babgabandhu Research Center and the Department of English of Northern University Bangladesh jointly celebrated Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day on Sunday.
On the occasion, a discussion was held where it was attended, among others, by by Prof Dr Anwar Hussain, Vice Chancellor of Northern University, Profe Dr Abdul Khaleque,
former Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University and Vice Chancellor of North Bengal University. Registrar Commodore Monirul Islam presided over by Professor Dr. Anwarul Karim, Executive Director, Bangabandhu Research Center and Professor of English, Northern University Bangladesh
The host of the session, Mohammad Jashim Uddin, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of English, NUB cordially welcomed the guests and the audience of the programme. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Vice-Chancellor, NUB gave his introductory speech on the topic and reminisced his own experiences with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman while he was at London just before the homecoming day.
The special guest Commodore (Retd.) M. Monirul Islam, Registrar, NUB talked about the significance of the Home coming day in view of the liberation war led Bangabandhu from the prison. The chief discussant of the session, Professor Dr. Abdul Khaleque, former Vice-Chancellor, Rajshahi University talked about his several encounters with Bangabandhu on various occasions. He discussed the greatness of Bangabandhu as a leader who always kept his words and remained true to his beliefs.
The chair of the session, Prof. Dr. Anwarul Karim, Professor, Department of English and Executive Director, Bangabandhu Research Center, NUB talked in details about the contribution of Bangabandhu in the birth of Bangladesh. He said that January 10 should be a day of celebration for all the Bengalis around the world to remember our great hero. He asked the youth to learn more about our own history and concluded the webinar by thanking everyone who organized and joined the webinar.
