NU observes ‘July Martyrs Day’ with doa mahfil

National University (NU) observed ‘July Martyrs Day’ at its Gazipur campus, along with colleges and institutions affiliated with the university. For the first time, the day was celebrated at educational institutions across the country.

To mark the ‘July Martyrs Day’, a special doa mahfil was held seeking eternal peace for the souls of the martyrs who were killed in the July-August mass uprising.

The special doa mahfil was held at the university’s central mosque after the Zuhr prayer, where National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah was present.

Along with the heads of various departments, teachers, staff, officers, and students, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Md. Lutfor Rahman, Treasurer Professor Dr. ATM Jaforul Azam, acting deans of faculties, the registrar, and the exam controller were also present.

In addition, as part of the other programmes, the national and university flags were flown at half-mast at the university’s Gazipur campus, Dhaka’s Dhanmondi city office, and regional centres to pay tribute to the martyrs.

Also, all colleges and educational institutions affiliated with the university observed similar programmes marking July Martyrs Day with due respect.

Last year, The students accompany with people from differe walks of life came to street and stood against the injustice as a result police and rulling party attack the protesters, some of students have been killed in that protest. 

Last year, students, accompanied by people from different walks of life, took to the streets to protest against injustice. In response, the police and ruling party members allegedly attacked the demonstrators. As a result, several students lost their lives during the protest.

It was a red letter day for the students along with martyrs family as the have to irrepairable looses in those July- August days. The whole nation will keep in remind the sacrifies through which we got a new Bangladesh.
