The students of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) demanded waiver of mess rent due to coronavirus pandemic and on this issue, they formed a human chain on 30 September in front of the central Shaheed Minar of the university.

In the human chain they said that due to coronavirus pandemic the non residential students of the university suffered hardship to pay mess rent as the campus was closed and in some cases the owners of the mess misbehaved with them. Some students had to leave the mess for this crisis of mess rent.

They urged the university administration to solve this issue as early as possible. Later, the students handed over a memorandum to the university administration and met NSTU VC Prof. Dr. Md. Didar-ul-Alam   on this matter.

On this point, NSTU VC Prof Dr Md Didar-ul-Alam said that they would talk about the matter in a meeting that would be held next week on the mess rent issue and the matter of internet packages for online classes would also be discussed.
