NSI and Customs Intelligence team conducted a raid at Shah Amanat International Airport and seized cigarettes, import-banned cream, mobile phones and laptops. These were seized from a passenger named Mohammad Gias Uddin. He is a resident of Fatikchhari Upazila.
These products were found from a passenger who arrived on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG148 from Dubai on Saturday.
Airport Public Relations Officer Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil said that NSI and Customs Intelligence team conducted a raid at the airport and recovered 5 cartons of cigarettes, 12 pieces of beauty cream, 6 mobiles and 1 laptop. The recovered cigarettes, laptops, beauty cream and mobile phones have been handed over to the airport customs. The cigarettes, laptops, beauty cream and mobiles have been seized on DM basis as they are in excess of the baggage allowance and are prohibited and controlled goods.
The estimated market value of the seized products is 4 lakh 1 thousand 700 taka. However, since the detained passenger had no previous record, he was released after being given a verbal warning in the presence of an intelligence representative, after noting his passport.
