A notice has been issued to eight people, including the cabinet secretary, to move away from the decision to build a hospital in the green-enclosed CRB and take initiative to build another place.

The notice was sent to the Cabinet Secretary, Railway Secretary, DG of Railways, GM of Eastern Zone of Railways, CEO of Public Private Partnership Authority, DG of Environment Department, Chairman of Chittagong Development Authority and Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.

Barrister Hasan MS Azim, a Supreme Court lawyer, issued the notice on behalf of Zia Habib Ahsan, a trustee lawyer of the Bangladesh Human Rights Foundation.

Barrister Hassan MS Azim said, “We want to protect the environment and heritage.  I also want a hospital.  For this reason, the notice has been given to decide to move from CRB and set up a hospital elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Railway Minister Advocate Nurul Islam Sujan MP has made it clear that the construction work of the hospital will start in the proposed place in spite of opposition.

Railway minister said, "Opponents will oppose.  We will build a hospital in the proposed place.

There is no harm to the environment.  We are carrying out our work by maintaining everything.

However, local MP and Deputy Minister for Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel wrote on his verified Facebook page, ‘Honorable Prime Minister Bangabandhu’s worthy daughter Sheikh Hasina has instructed that there is no concession on the issue of environment.  So there is no chance of being confused.  Have confidence.  The CRB is located at the headquarters of the Eastern Railway in Chittagong;  A solution will be worked out soon in consultation with all concerned on the construction of hospitals and environment and tree conservation in a public-private joint venture.
