The newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) for Narail Sharmin Akhter Jahan on Wednesday said, we are not hopeless. We are dreaming of hope.
She also said I don’t believe in words only. I believe in work. I want to make the women self-dependent through several trainings.
The DC came up with the assertion while speaking at a view-exchange meeting with local journalists at deputy commissioner’s conference room at 12:30 pm.
She prayed for the departed souls of the students, people who were killed during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in July and August. She also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured people.
During the meeting, she declared zero tolerance policy against irregularities and corruption. She also vowed to ensure quality education, development of drainage system of the town, interests of agriculture and farmers, taking legal measures to prevent illegal grabbing, filling and pollution of rivers and waterbodies including Chitra, eliminating the irregularities in Narail Sadar Hospital and other health complexes and taking legal action against illegal clinics.
She announced regular market monitoring to control the market price of commodities. Terming the journalists as the mirror of the society, she sought cooperation from the journalists with correct information and constructive criticism to speed up the work of the district administration.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-General) Shashoti Shil, Narail Press Club President Advocate Alomgir Siddiqui, General Secretary Mirza Nazrul Islam, former Vice President Sultan Mahmood, assistant commissioners of DC office, and journalists from various print and electronic media were present at that time.
