The official script for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ confirms the film features a subtle callback to ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. As No Way Home continues to top the box office, Marvel Studios and Sony have decided to drop the film’s full script online. Written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, No Way Home wraps up director Jon Watts’ ‘Homecoming’ trilogy and further explores the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ever-evolving multiverse concept.
No Way Home sees Spider-Man (Tom Holland) dealing with his secret identity as Peter Parker being revealed to the world—which eventually leads him to the Sanctum Sanctorum to ask Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for help. Before iconic characters from the previous Sony Pictures Spider-Man are brought into the MCU, Strange uses the Runes of Kauf-Kaul to cast a spell intended to make the world forget Peter Parker is ‘Spider-Man’. Following Peter’s numerous, haphazard revisions, the spell goes awry and wreaks havoc on the Sanctum Sanctorum. Amid the chaos, one of the relics that begins to fall apart is the same one ‘Thor’ (Chris Hemsworth) struggles with in Taika Waititi’s ‘Ragnarok’ (2017).
Enough time has seemingly passed since the theatrical release of No Way Home to warrant the film’s script being released online. Besides allowing audiences to relive the blockbuster’s biggest moments by reading it, the script offers insight into key moments, including the spell scene, which featured the same relic from ‘Ragnarok’.
While searching for Odin in ‘Ragnarok’, the God of Thunder and his trickster brother end up at the Sanctum Sanctorum. There Dr Strange questions Thor as to why he would bring a threat like Loki back to Earth. During the conversation, Thor rhetorically asks “so Earth has wizards now?” while fiddling with a relic, which then spills into many pieces on the table—the same relic that falls apart in ‘No Way Home’.
