Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government has been trying heart and soul to protect the country’s people from the grip of Covid-19 alongside keeping business activities alive. Sheikh Hasina  has already made her stand clear that country’s all citizens would be vaccinated against Covid-19 as early as possible, saying her government would do whatever is required for collecting the vaccine.

It is envisaged that there would be no shortage of vaccine ahead. Five days after receiving 4.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, the government is expecting to get 3.5 million more by this month.

Bangladesh has faced some difficulties regarding vaccines as India stopped export of the Covid-19 jabs. But the problem with the vaccines is now over. The government has allocated Taka 14,200 crore in the budget to purchase vaccine.

Protecting the lives of people should

be the politics of all political

parties right now

On February 7, the countrywide Covid-19 vaccination campaign began and as of July 1, a total of 58, 20,015 people received first shot of Covid-19 vaccines while 42, 89,913 got second doses of inoculation. However, it has been noticed that when the country is trying to reach significant milestones in the fight against Covid-19, BNP along with anti-liberation forces including Jamaat-e-Islam is deliberately criticising the government instead of staying beside the people. We think everyone irrespective of his or her party affiliation should be responsible and work together to address the ongoing coronavirus crisis. Protecting the lives of people should be the politics of all political parties right now instead of creating panic among people.

We all countrymen must obey the ongoing lockdown and health guidelines properly to stop further spread of the Coronavirus in order to protect ourselves and cooperate with the government. Besides, we believe the Coronavirus situation will not deteriorate further if people celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha at their present locations.
