Proper zoning is just as important for a country as are its industries. Improper placement and industrial infrastructural development can cause problems. That is why proper city planning and zoning is essential for the development of a country. The power and energy ministry has taken an initiative to bar any industrial units outside planned industrial zones from getting utility services such as electricity and gas.

A report published in this daily says that the government is going to enact a new law to discourage unplanned industrialisation that may harm farmlands and environment. This is a laudable initiative as the enactment of this law will mean that future infrastructural development will be done under proper monitoring that will eventually make the country and its cities look more beautiful and picturesque.

When a city will be properly zoned on the basis of inhabitants,

 farmland and industries,

it will be a model city that a nation can be proud of

The report also mentions that there are around 2.30 lakh electricity connections for industries across the country – only 4,905 of them in planned industrial areas. This means that nearly 88 percent of the industrial units are functioning out of designated zones which in turn are encroaching upon the farm and habitable lands. This might have been the result of improper planning that continued for many years.

When a city will be properly zoned on the basis of inhabitants, farmland and industries, it will be a model city that a nation can be proud of.  The report also talks about the initiative of the government to focus on building industrial  establishments in the planned areas. We can see Savar tannery area as an example. In the same way other industries must be taken to planned zones in the interest of the nation and for protecting  environment.
