Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman has said there will be no scope for any obstruction or muscle-flexing in the practice of religion or religious rituals.
“People of all religions in the country are practising their respective religions peacefully, freely and without fear. There will be no scope for any kind of obstruction or muscle-flexing in religious practices or rituals. As soon as information is received about anyone involved in such activities, they will be brought under the law,” he said.
The minister made the remarks as the chief guest at a programme organised by the Puja Celebration Council at the Ramgopal Temple premises in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah on Friday (September 4) on the occasion of Janmashtami.
Addressing members of the Sanatan community attending the programme, the minister said, “On the occasion of Lord Krishna’s birth anniversary, I have come to express solidarity with you in your joy and celebration, devotion and reverence, and your faith and belief in religion. You will celebrate your festival, and the government is with you.”
The minister also assured those present that the government remains firm in ensuring a peaceful environment for the observance of religious practices.
Later, Law Minister Asaduzzaman joined a rally organised to mark Janmashtami. The procession passed through various roads in Shailkupa town. Prasad was later distributed among devotees.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Noman Hossain, Police Superintendent Mia Mohammad Ashish Bin Hossain, District Council Administrator M.A. Majid, Shailkupa Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, and local social and political leaders were present at the programme. #EK
