No room for BKSP representative in 28-member BHF EC committee

Bangladesh Hockey Federtion (BHF) finally formed their executive body but there were no room in the 28-member executive committee for any representative from Banglades Krira Shikkha Pratisthan (BKSP).

BHF finalised the 28 board members with submitting a compromised panel, as no election was necessary to make an elected body.

However, it was very much surprising that the BKSP, almost the only sources of providing hockey players when the country’s sports institute is the main industry of producing more than 95 persent hockey players of the country.

It is very much true, if BKSP would fail to provide players, no doubt Bangladesh would lost the tradition of the game.

In fact, the BHF has been suffering from it’s organizing dilemma for more than a decade, however, they could survived from this difficulties but could not get rid of their limitation, as just to satisfy some people they ignored the BKSP and some of the genuine organisers.

If we look back when it appeared very tough to run the domestic hockey competitions lack of sufficient players, pipeline of the players from grass roots were almost stopped, BKSP turned into as rescuer. At least from mid 90s BKSP has been providing players who had been playing in the domestic competitions and leagues for different clubs. There is no way to form the national team or age group national teams without players from BKSP.

Without the players of BKSP, it is quite impossible to run the country’s hockey but the present policy makers did not think it necessary to consider a representative from the biggest sports institution.

Some of the organisers and national hockey players were shocked not to see any representative from BKSP, when they were talking to the Bangladesh Post on Tuesday expressed their surprise that the BHF executive committee is without BKSP representative. On condition of not mentioning their names, they said, “It is very much harsh, as well as surprising that a representatives from BKSP was not considered in the newly formed EC committee of the BHF.”

“BKSP started to provide players in the local teams in 1989 when a group of players played for Victoria Sporting Club, then Ajax SC and Azad Sporting, since then BKSP is the main source of providing players for domestic competitions and the national teams.”

“Specially, since mid 90s without BKSP players there is no way to form senior, junior or any national teams, even it will not possible to run the domestic competitions if BKSP will not provide players,” the former national player revealed.

“Really it is very much unexpected not to consider any representative from the BKSP,” one of the organisers also said.

“When BKSP is the main sources of having players to run the country’s hockey, it is obviously not a fair decision ignoring the BKSP,” said the organizer, also a former national player.

Meanwhile, there were so many controversy with some of the candidates, who were considered ignoring some of the genuine club representatives.

It was also a big question that when ward councilors were considered as candidates but BKSP and club members were overlooked.
