A recent social media post falsely alleged that the Bangladesh Army provided transportation support to a political party for one of its events using army-branded buses.
Bangladesh Army has categorically denied the claim, calling it completely false, misleading, and deliberately crafted to tarnish the reputation of the armed forces.
In an official clarification, the Army said that private buses are occasionally hired from external sources to facilitate student transport for various army-run educational institutions. These temporary arrangements sometimes include the use of “Bangladesh Army” signage or logos on the buses for identification purposes.
However, it was acknowledged that some transport providers, even after the conclusion of their contracts with the Army, continue to display the Army’s name or logo to receive undue privileges on the roads. Such acts are unauthorised and violate legal boundaries.
Authorities suspect that a vested interest group is intentionally spreading misinformation to provoke controversy and undermine the Army’s public image. In response, the Bangladesh Army has urged the public to remain cautious, avoid sharing unverified information, and refrain from being misled by orchestrated disinformation campaigns.
The Army reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the Constitution, national security, and professional integrity, emphasising that it remains a neutral and apolitical institution serving the nation.
