Aiming to check the misuse of rail ticket, Bangladesh Railway is going to introduce a new system of ticketing for rail travel. Under the new rules rail tickets cannot be purchased without an National Identity Card (NID).

As a result, if the identity cannot be confirmed through national identity card, then rail travel will not be possible.

On Monday, July 27, the Ministry of Railways approved a proposal in this regard.

“The new rules will be introduced by the end of October, It will be mandatory for all train passengers to produce identity proof from December 1, this year Railways firmed up this step to prevent misuse of tickets by touts and facilitate hassle-free travel by bonafide people”, said the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Railways Mohammad Mahbub Kabir.

Under the new plan, a passenger must register himself to get the rail tickets.
