Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said food department officials should be vigilant to ensure that bad, broken or discolored rice does not enter the warehouse. He mentioned that no compromise can be made on the question of rice quality at this time.
He made the comments while inspecting the Tahirpur Food Warehouse (LSD) on Monday afternoon.
The food minister said borough procurement is underway. Although paddy is cultivated in many lands in Haor, some crops have been damaged due to early floods.
Mentioning that the government has procured a large portion of paddy rice in the haor, he called for making the borough procurement a success.
At the time, Member of Parliament Engineer Moazzem Hossain Ratan, Secretary of the Ministry of Food. Nazmanara Khanum, Director (Collection) of the Food Department Md. Raihanul Kabir, Director (Movement, Conservation and Silo) Md Jamal Hossain, Regional Food Controller Sylhet. Main Uddin, District Food Controller Naqib Saad Md. Saiful Islam Upazila Parishad Chairman Koruna Sindhu Chowdhury Babul and Upazila Executive Officer Md. Raihan Kabir were present.
Earlier, the Minister visited Mollikpur Food Warehouse in Sunamganj and gave necessary instructions to make the borough procurement a success. Meanwhile, the minister planted a fruit sapling in the premises of the food warehouse.
