No gambling in the name of club: CCC Mayor

'Gambling will not happen in the name of the club. We make the club pure entertainment. One way to entertain is sports. It is a sacred courtyard. No one has the right to defile it. '

Chattagram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin made these remarks while addressing as  the chief guest on Monday morning.

On that day, the CCC organized a counter-terrorism and anti-corruption meeting at the IS Convention Hall premises of Aman Bazar in South Pahartali ward.

 Chaired by local councilor Taufiq Ahmed Chowdhury, CCC Legislative Standing Committee Chairman, Councilor HM Sohail, CCC Executive Magistrate Afia Akhtar, Special Magistrate (Joint District Judge) Jahanara Ferdous, Hathazari Police Station OC (Investigation) Md. Afzal Hossain, Inspector Tapan Kanti Sharma, Former CCC councilor Jafar Alam Chowdhury, South Pahartali Ward Awami League Vice-President MA Malek, Bayazid Thana Awami League Vice-President Moinuddin Moinu, Joint General Secretary Md Shahjahan Rashid, spoke at the meeting.

Besides, Wahidul Alam Shimul, Shafiqur Rahman, teachers of local educational institutions, students and local dignitaries were present.

At the meeting, the mayor said, nowhere the club is managed with gambling, liquor and casinos. Our Constitution and holy Islam do not allow gambling. Gambling is totally banned in Islam.  Islam does not justify gambling.

"First we have to correct ourselves," he said. “ I am not involved in alcohol and gambling, I will have courage in my chest. Personally I have  been  running  the club since 1985. I am the Founder General Secretary of Chittagong Brothers Union Club; I have been the President for a long time. This club has become champion for many times. The club is not involved in such criminal activities,” he added.
