No Covid deaths for 23 days in a row

Bangladesh registered no death from Covid-19 yet again in 24 hours till 8am Friday. The total number of deaths remains at 29,127.

It has been 23 days since the last Covid death was logged in the country. Only one death from coronavirus was recorded on 20th April. 

The country recorded 18 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,952,957, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday. The current positivity rate stands 0.45 percent and the  overall positivity rate stands at 13.91 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.49 percent in the country, added the release.

Experts believe that the relentless vaccination campaigns conducted at regular intervals played a huge role in bringing down the impact of the deadly virus.

According to them, the country has reached a systematic result due to the efforts of all in tackling the deadly virus.

A total of 4,004 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday. 

Some 327 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,898,930 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.23 percent.

As of Friday, 6,284,865 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 519,877,926 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
